What it Means to Me
Photography and Journalism
As a photojournalist and writer, I find that photography guides many of the stories I tell. My camera allows me to see the world, literally and figuratively, through a different lens. It forces me to look for beauty in the mundane and allows me to shine a spotlight on compelling moments I come across when researching a topic.
Covering the School Board
Diving in
The story I've invested the most time in is the news piece I wrote last year on a school board controversy that rocked the district.
More than a Drill
Fire on campus
This photo was one of the first contributions I made to the paper. I photographed several firefighters on campus after a fire had broken out in the gym. My photos ultimately made the front cover of that issue.
Downtown
Reporting in the City
I've covered stories in downtown San Diego involving childhood poverty. These stories were highly photo-based.
